Not yet bottled, the 2017 Grenache The Gorgeous Victim is based on 76% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 9% Syrah, and the rest Petite Sirah and Viognier. It saw 46% stems (mostly for the Grenache) and will spend 23 months in just 23% new French oak. This full-bodied, gorgeous effort sports a saturated purple hue as well as blockbuster notes of spice box, ground pepper, red currants, and hints of cured meats. This classic, powerful Grenache from Krankl is flawlessly balanced, has plenty of tannins, and delivers a great finish. While it’s going to provide plenty of pleasure in its youth, it will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age.

The 2017 Grenache The Gorgeous Victim is bright, dense and explosive. Sweet floral notes, spice, red cherry and pomegranate all run through this striking, sumptuous Grenache. A wine of superb aromatic precision and nuance, the 2017 is off the charts beautiful. The 46% whole clusters, mostly from the Grenache, add striking top notes, while the purity of the fruit is simply mind-blowing.
