Reviews & Scores
A very densely fruited and wonderfully complex nose redolent of plum, red fruits, earth, game, smoke, underbrush and spice hints introduce impressively concentrated, textured and precise medium full flavors that stain the palate while coating it on the solidly persistent finish. This too is a serious and cool effort that will require ample time to arrive at its peak though it's not quite as structured as the Bonnes Mares.

The 2004 Dujac Clos de la Roche is quite a bit more adolescent than the Morey AC at this point, and consequently is showing a bit more of its herbal side at the present time on both the nose and palate. The bouquet is deep and very complex, as it offers up scents of black cherries, plums, a touch of beetroot, a great base of soil, vinesmoke, pepper and a deft framing of spicy wood. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and focused, with lovely complexity, a fine core of fruit, moderate tannins, tangy acids and lovely length and grip on the slightly peppery and quite soil-driven finish. This will be a very fine vintage of Clos de la Roche chez Seysses, and only needs five or six more years to fully blossom.

Dark ruby with a pale rim, like all the 2004s. Light but satisfyingly autumnal nose. Very rich palate attack for a 2004 -- bravo! Really resonates and reverberates. Quite tense and concentrated. A real testament to Grand Cru terroir. Rich and great zest. Already giving lots of pleasure. Long. Still evolving. Relatively racy for a Roche though none the worse for it.

Good deep, full red. Brooding aromas of black raspberry, brown spices, smoke and underbrush. Fat, rich and sweet, with a primary character to the spicy red berry and mineral flavors. Backward and not yet expressive but this boasts firm, nicely buffered tannins and a vibrant, mounting finish. I found this a bit hard-edged from barrel a year ago, but today it's merely young and in need of patience.

On the northern boundary of Morey Saint-Denis, this vineyard produces wines that show some of the power of neighboring Gevrey-Chambertin. This wine, from the hands of the Seysses family, has all that power; it’s packed with very rich red fruits and layers of acidity, sweet tannins and a delicious, lifted finish. Impressive wine, with an obvious ability to age.

Rich and smoky, with loads of spice and sweet cherry. A complex, multidimensional red. The tannins are firm and a bit dry, yet overall this is well-balanced. Has a long finish of bacon fat.
