The de Vogüé holding in Bonnes-Mares is 2.7ha in size, almost all of it on the red clay soils called terres rouges, which gives deep colour and a wine of great concentration and depth. This is the only wine that is punched down in the de Vogüé cellar, and it gives a vigorous, muscular result, with plenty of structure but deep, dense fruit quality as well. Aged in one-third new casks as with the Musigny. Drinking Window 2029-2059.

"A riper and more restrained nose requires some swirling to reveal its aromas of plum liqueur, blue berry, earth and a more restricted range of spice elements. The bigger and richer flavors possess an opulent richness and a velvety texture that coats the palate and enrobes the firmer tannic spine shaping the powerful, tautly muscular and strikingly persistent finale."
